The Cave

TRIGGER WARNING: deals with depression and anxiety.

Having depression is like taking a long walk through a cave, and you don't have the map, you don't know where you're going or where the end is, and while you may have a vague idea how you got into the cave, you definitely don't know how to go back to the entrance and leave that way.  And if you do know how to get back to the entrance, a lot of the time, it's blocked and you still can't get out.
Most of the time you're alone, because not everyone goes walking in a cave.  Sometimes you may have a friend on the other side of the wall, but neither one of you can pass through the wall, or even if there's an opening to get to them, you may not realize they're there, or they may not realize you're there.
Your friends and family call you sometimes, but they don't always realize that you're lost in a cave, because you're so good at acting like you're perfectly fine, and know exactly where you are.  When they do know you're in the cave, sometimes they say things like, "Well, just get out of the cave, silly!" or, "You do have a choice whether you're in the cave or not, you know."  Sometimes they manage to be really helpful, and say things like, "I understand that you can't get out...if there's a way I can help you get out, let me know."
Sometimes the helpful friends and family can do things like read you written instructions for a map, or even send you a picture of part of the map, so you at least have a better idea of where you're going, and you don't hit so many dead ends.  Sometimes, if they can find a hole in the roof of the cave, that isn't quite big enough for anyone to fit through, they can still drop you nice things, like chocolate, to make you feel better.  They can talk to you, so you don't feel so alone.
But, eventually, your friends and family have to do their own things, so they hang up.  Or you come across a dead spot in the cave, and the call drops, and you can't send texts.  Sometimes you're so scared of never getting out of the cave that you don't even answer calls, because you think it would be better if your friends and family forgot you and learned to live without you before you die in the cave...or because you're scared of them leaving you, so you do the leaving first.
Remember how you're alone?  Well, sometimes you aren't.  Sometimes you have a little friend that joins you.  Anxiety.  You'd think that having company would make your journey easier, but when your company is Anxiety, you would much rather be alone.
He insists on riding on your back, instead of walking, because when he's on your back, he's closer to whisper in your ear things like, "You're an idiot.  It's your fault you're in this cave.  Your family hates you.  Your friends don't really like you.  Your boyfriend/girlfriend is going to break up with you.  The reason why your cat doesn't like to cuddle is because it hates you too.  If you say that people are going to think you're stupid, even if you're just sending it over a text.  If you tell your family that you're lost in a cave, they're going to hate you even more.  You'd better not touch that, because it might hurt you.  Remember that thing you did forever ago?  No?  Well, I do, and I'm going to remind you, so you can feel bad about it all over again.  Are you really so sure your friend forgave you all those years ago?  There's a person behind you and they want to kidnap you and rape you and kill you."
Sometimes, when you're really lucky, there's a big hole in the roof of the cave, and you can actually see light, and you're reminded that there's a world beyond your cave, and that you can get there, even if you can't get there now, because the walls are too steep!  And sometimes, when you're even more lucky, Anxiety drops off of your back and runs to hide in the shadows until later, but other times he stays and whispers things, casting clouds over the joy of the sunlight.
Then...at various points through your journey through the cave, there are stops.  At these stops, there's a forked road.  One of them, you know will kill you.  And...sometimes...you can't remember what the light looks like...how the sun feels...all you can think about is ending your pain.  Or sometimes...you honestly think your family and friends would be better off without you.  You drag them down.  You're always going to them with your problems, and you don't want to burden them.  Oh, how you long to take the path of death.  The path of relief.
But you don't.
You don't.
For whatever reason, you don't.
You think of your cat.  Who will feed him?
You think of your family.  What if they do need you?
You think of your friends.  What if they need you too?
You think of noble things.
Or maybe...maybe you just get scared.
But whatever the reason, you don't let yourself die.
You continue your miserable journey.
And see, the thing is...no one can just...pull you out of the cave.  You have to find the exit yourself.  Of course, phone calls from friends and family may help.  Even meds may help.  Praying may help.  But...you're still in the cave, even if there's a hole in the roof.
And sometimes...even if you do manage to find your way out of the cave for a bit, and walk and talk with your friends and family...and...well...actually enjoy yourself...the cave has a way of sneaking up on you, as if it's a living creature, and swallowing you down, even if you fight.
And...Anxiety doesn't always leave when you come out of the cave...in fact, Anxiety might cling to you for longer than you ever spent in the cave!  I mean...Anxiety hangs out with me more than I'm in the cave, so he could do that to you too.
But, even while you're in that cave, there's something that you need to remember...or at least try your hardest, because I know first-hand that it's really hard to remember this: There IS someone who loves you, and there ARE people who care, and even though it's hard and miserable and you may never truly leave that cave, you WILL be okay.

"Real Women"

Real women have curves!  Right?  Which implies that unless you have curves...you're not a real woman....  Of course, that excludes all naturally twiggy women.  I have no idea what they are, but they're obviously not real women.  Are they women at all though?  To find the answer to that question, I went to the dictionary.  And here is what it told me:
"an adult, human female".
Well...that's a tad vague...I mean... what does that even mean?  It says nothing about curves, or lackthereof.  MAYBE if I looked up the meaning of real, it might make sense.
"actually existing as a thing or occurring in fact; not imagined or supposed.".
Does that mean that...I've imagined all the skinny women I know?!
When I looked up "real woman definition", I was sent to this article: "real women".  It says nothing about curves either!  Of course, Urban Dictionary popped up...and because I'm typing this on my iPad at school, I couldn't pop it up, because Urban Dictionary has some...uh...moments where it's not very school appropriate.
But nothing I've found so far has said anything about real women having curves.  Maybe if I look for a scientific definition, I can find out what a real woman is.  Well, that didn't tell me anything....  But, I know from biology class that females have XX chromosomes.
Apparently, only curvy women have XX chromosomes....  Of course, with the definition of XX chromosomes, that also rules out "women" such as Caitlyn (Bruce) Jenner.
It's so confusing!  What's a real woman anyway?  Well, according to the dictionary and science, it's an adult, female human, that is not imagined, and has XX chromosomes...so...don't worry, my twig-like friends...despite what Facebook has tried to tell us, you are in fact, a real woman.  And as for you, my friends with curves...as long as you're an adult female human, that has XX chromosomes and are not imagined, you're also a real woman!
Silly Facebook...you don't know how to use a dictionary.

Business Teaching Game?

Okay, so...this game isn't exactly a "teaching" game at all.  It's called Flight Rising an is a game completely centered around dragons.  You breed them, train them in battle, feed them, name them, change their genes around, etc.  Where am I getting that it's a business teaching game?!
Well, also, in this game you do a thing called "gathering", four of the gathering types produces food for you dragons, while the remaining two provide you with other items that you don't need to survive in the game, but can give you cool things.

The way that gathering can help with business type skills is that you decide where you need to gather and how much you need to gather there.  Do most of your dragons eat plants, but you have some dragons that eat meat and you have absolutely zero meat?  Maybe you should go hunting.  Are your food stores all stocked up?  Well, why not dig or scavenge?
Then, with the things you've scavenged or dug up, you can go to the Auction House, and sell them!  But oh no!  What do I price my "white rook" for?!  All you have to do is figure out how much other people are selling their white rooks for, then price your white rook at the same or a little lower.  Or...if the lowest price you could sell it for is less than the price you'd get for selling it back to the store...your best bet is to either sell it back to the store, or hang onto it until the price for white rooks goes back up.
You find all kinds of things you can sell, in your "hoard".  It has different tabs for different things.  You decide what you want to sell and what you want to keep.  Some things, it's better to hang onto.  For example, there's a place in Flight Rising called the "coliseum", which is where your dragons can battle either other player's dragons, or monsters.  I stick to battling monsters.  But they need battle items.  If you have a lightning dragon and a fire dragon, but you only have ability stones for a nature dragon, you might want to sell the nature battle items and get some lightning and fire battle items!
There's also a place in Flight Rising called the "trading post".  At the trading post, there's one place where you can get one thing for free every day, another place where someone buys your items for more than you could sell them in the store, but they get to choose what they want and you might not even have it, one where you can answer questions about Flight Rising and get treasure in return, one where you can trade different items you may have for one big item, usually apparel, for your dragon to wear, and a last place where you can turn some of the things you keep in your hoard into goos, mucks, slimes, oozes, and something else, but I don't remember what, and then you can use those, as well as other materials to make more things.
Also!  If there are things you have in your hoard that you want to make sure you don't sell or throw away or give away, you can move them to your vault.  Which is fantastic.  You can even move gems and treasure into your vault.
How does business come into this?  Well, you have to know what to price your items for.  If you're making things to sell, you need to know what's in demand.  A great way to do that?  The forums.  Not all forums are about selling, in fact, there's one forum that's not even for anything Flight Rising related, it's just so people can have fun and talk about anything and everything.
The more I play Flight Rising, the more I realize I'm doing things like, making business transactions, marketing, sort of budgeting (not exactly) and I feel like if you homeschool (or even if you don't), Flight Rising would be a great place to go and sort of make your own business/market on there for selling this that or the other thing.  Maybe I'm way off, but that's just how it seemed to me.

I Need to Get a Job....

Okay...I really need a job.  Why?  I'm 18 and unemployed.  This is not okay.  I mean, for some, maybe.  After all, I'm still living with my parents, unwed, unpregnant, not a mother, still attending high school...but also, at the same time...I am independent...this lack of a job is hampering my independent-ness!
I tend to like making lists...we've discovered this.  I also seem to like making pro vs. con lists...so...that's what I'll be doing...the pros and cons of having a job....

Pros

  1. Well, first of all, the most obvious MONEY.  You get money that you don't have to worry about paying back to a bank or a family member.  It is yours.
  2. You get experiences you couldn't get any other way.
  3. You are given a sense of accomplishment.
  4. You have someone to be accountable to...which I suppose to some people it could be a con....
  5. You have more structure and your days aren't filled with free time that you have no idea what to do with.
Cons
  1. You lose a lot of free time.
  2. You have to go to work and may not always get days off; if your family wants to go on a spontaneous trip, they may have to go without you.
  3. Less time with your family.
  4. The wrong boss or co-workers could be detrimental to you and possibly those you care for.
  5. You have less time to take care of your mental, emotional and physical health.
And there you have it...some of the pros and cons I've thought of to having a job.  Speaking of which, I'm planning to check for a job at a nursing home in my town...wish me luck!

What I Want....

You know….I don’t want a boyfriend.  I don’t want a guy that I’ll cuddle with late into the night, and make out with when my family isn’t around.  I don’t want a guy who feels obligated to get me something just because, “It’s our 6 month anniversary!”  I don’t want a guy who will tickle me until I scream and kick at him, and I end up laughing my head off.  I don’t even think I want a guy who kisses me sweetly on the cheek, or the nose, or calls me his sweetie pie.
I’ve been putting some thought into it.  And you know…that really isn’t what I want at all.  Please, note I said nothing about hugs.
Here’s what I want:  A guy who will be my best friend, and put up with all the crap I do.  Yes, I said the C word.  Deal with it.  I want a guy who will hug me when he sees me, and does everything he can to make sure I’m still happy and smiling.  A guy who never stops making me laugh and smile and stuff, just because we go on these things called dates.
DUDE!  I’m not even sure I want dates.  Sure, hang out a time or two…but maybe not even date.  Maybe hang out a lot actually…but not really dates.  They can get awkward.
I want a guy who will be my best friend forever, give me rides in his truck when I’m only a block away from my destination because of how cold it is, and always makes me laugh…even if we never date.
Maybe, I don’t want to even date at all!  MAYBE, I want to just go from being best friends with the guy, to being engaged to the guy.  Is that so strange and impossible?  Why get into a “relationship” at all?  All those do is ruin friendships.  Normally anyway.  I mean, honestly…I was friends with all of exes before they became my boyfriends…and then we broke up, and weren’t friends anymore.  In fact, some of them and I have strong enmity.  For those of you who may or may not know, enmity is hatred.  Besides, aren’t you supposed to marry your best friend, not your boyfriend?  I’ve always heard that you’re supposed to marry your best friend.  Unless of course your best friend is a girl….  Pretty sure that that only applies to if your best friend is a boy.
And, maybe if we do date…maybe I want him to be willing to wait, for whatever reason, and is perfectly willing to have a talk or two with my big, strong, buff uncles, who were both in the army, and have guns, in addition to my big, strong, buff grandpa, who was also in the army…and who I’m not sure if has guns or not….BUT HE HAS KITCHEN KNIVES!!!  And pepperjack cheese ^_^  But the point is, maybe I want him to be patient, and brave.  Honestly, as unscary as my uncles are…they’re scary.  But awesome.
And, whether we date or not, I want him to kind of…ya know, integrate himself into my family.  Come over on random Sundays after church, maybe pop by on Thanksgiving if he’s not too busy, play a few games, make a few memories, teasingly make fun of my grandma’s rat-on-steroids/Chihuahua.  I want a guy who will let me talk about just about anything, and give me good advice, and well, basically be my best friend.
I think that that would be pretty freakishly awesome.  Of course, it’s always a plus if he’s cute.  And he has to be taller than me, and be able to make me laugh, and be willing to go to church with me, and stuff like that.  Those three are musts.  OH!  And I just find it absolutely adorable when guys play with their little brothers and sisters, and are good with kids.  It’s just sooo adorable, and I have no idea why, but it is.  I just love it.
But yeah…that’s my wonderful little rant-ish thing for the night.

One Million Dollars

I know, strange title, get over it.
So...today I was talking to a guy who was Catholic, and I asked what was up with purgatory.  Honestly I do not get the point of purgatory.  So, he said that it was a place to wait, and to get a second chance.  And possibly get prayed into heaven.  I still honestly don't see the point.  Everyone would go to heaven if purgatory existed, because to be perfectly honest with you, everyone, even Hitler, has people who would pray hard enough for them to get into heaven.
Yeah, I don't think God would allow such evil in his heaven.
So, I thought of this story, which isn't really a story, it's an illustration, but whatevs, with salvation being a free gift from God, ect., and if I tweaked it a little bit, I came up with this;
If I offered you a million dollars, it would be a free gift, and I would just be giving it to you right?  Well, God offers salvation as a free gift for you to accept or decline.  If you didn't accept the million dollars, you 1. wouldn't have a million dollars, and 2. I would keep trying to give it to you.  If you don't accept God's gift, you 1. Don't have salvation, which is the only way to get to heaven, and 2.  God will keep trying to give it to you.
Say you did accept the million dollars...you would have some problems.  Taxes, not knowing if your friends are your friends because they like you, or for your money, ect, but you have the million dollars.  If you accept salvation, sure you're gonna have some problems too.  Persecution, things like that, but you have salvation and will go to heaven.  And there is no way on God's green geo (geo means earth, and I'm putting that there for alliteration, which is when there is the same sound, normally at the beginning of the words in a sentence, that is always repeated, and stuff) that I am saying it's easy.
But, back to you didn't accept the million dollars.
I keep trying and trying and trying to give it to you.  But you still say no.  Then you die.  Are you going to show up somewhere where a bunch of people can try to give you the million dollars for me?  Um...no.  Same with salvation.  God keeps trying and trying and trying to give it to you, but you just say no, over and over and over, and then you die.  It would make no sense to go to a place where humans can pray for you to have what God only can give you, and what you kept rejecting, right?
And that is why I don't believe that there's a purgatory.
Yeah, you get a second chance.  You get chances over and over and over until you die!  But once you die that's it.  That is my stance on it.  Take it or leave it.

Secondhand Things

It has come to my attention that a lot of the things my family has are second hand.
Our couch, our wii, two of our three pianos...I think I'm a piano collector.  My violin, many random things throughout the house.  I got several good shirts from our local thrift store.
So I think secondhand things are a good deal.  As long as they aren't second hand smoke.  I don't like that.
Or sometimes second hand computers depending on if they erased stuff.
Like our computer we got second hand, and on google one of the saved things was, "How to roll a joint."  And for the longest time before it finally clicked I thought that the joint in question was the body part.  So yeah, if I ever need to know how to roll a joint I know where to go.
I doubt I'll ever need or want to though.
Oy...it's almost 11:00PM.
In other words...right now it's 10:47 and if I don't go to bed I'll be muchay tiredo tomorrow...and it won't be good.  At all.
The thing about friends is that they give you stuff, and you know you don't have to give anything back, but you love them so you do.
I don't know why I just randomly typed that.
I don't want to go to school.
I don't like math.
Help.  My last three sentences started with I don't...that's not good sentence variety.  I shall now shun myself.
Okay, Katie you are now shunned.
Now on with the post.
Like I was saying I need to go to bed.  And also I'm working on another book full of my short stories, which are actually kind of childish now that I think about it.  Crazy huh?  I like stories.  And books.
I want to read the Diary of Anne Frank.  I shall ask my English teacher if I can borrow her copy of it.  Well, one of her copies of it.  She has a bunch. I think some of her people are reading it.
Well, I need to go.
I think that's the third time I've said something like that.
Have you ever wondered why people say things such as, 'like,' or 'ya know' or something in the middle of a sentence?  It's strange.  Okay, yeah, well I'm strange, and finally getting off of here.
G'night!

Katie's Therapy Session

Okay, first off, you may not want to take therapy from me.  I may be able to help some, but all in all sometimes I think I'm the one who actually needs the therapy.  I'm guessing that that's what friends are for.
Anyway, today on, "The Katie Show," (a spin off of other TV shows like The Tyra Banks Show, and Dr. Phil) we're going to be discussing telling secrets.
I honestly think that we all have deep dark secrets.  Maybe some secrets are deeper than others, and maybe some aren't very deep to anyone but you.
Like, I know of some girls who would find it deep and dark to tell someone that they'd farted...me?  I would just be, "Yeah, I farted, so what?  Girls fart too!"
And then there are people who have been used, and abused, and I can see how that would be classified as a deep dark secret.
Well, ya know what?  It's okay to tell people about your secrets.  Sometimes your secrets can help other people, with similar secrets.  Plus I'm sure it could be damaging to keep your deep dark secrets inside.
There's a website I found once, called, Lauren's Kids.  This is a woman who was sexually abused for SIX years.  She shared her secret, and it's helping others.
She has a place where other abused girls/women can post their story, in complete anonymity.  Showing people that they're not alone can really help.  Which I am sure is why Lauren is doing it.
I don't know what your deep dark secret is, but it could help others too.
And if you want to tell someone, yet you're scared...I need to tell you some things.
  1. Make sure you can trust this person.
  2. If someone was telling you the same thing you were going to tell your friend/teacher/parent, what would your reaction be?
  3. Make sure that you really want to tell them this.  Once you tell them, you can't untell them.
I've told people deep dark secrets.  Most of whom I could trust...though I found out later that I couldn't trust one of them.
There's a deep dark secret that one of my friends had...and I had a similar experience too, in a way, and when she told me, I didn't shun her.  I gave her a hug.  Yet this is something I've been scared to tell other people in my life.
It's taken me up to a month after I thought about telling a friend a deep dark secret, to actually tell them, but this gave me time to ponder if I really wanted my friend to know it.
I am not saying that you should always tell everyone the deep dark secret...because, not everyone could mentally and emotionally stand telling everyone, and having their story out in their name, for all to see.  But it's a good idea to tell at least one person.
Keeping secrets inside isn't a good thing.
And we are supposed to bear one another's burdens.  No, that does not mean you can load up your friends, but not listen to them.  It's a two way street.
Well, that was all.  Have a good day.
~Katie :)

Just Been Thinking...

I've just been thinking recently...
You know how people say everything happens for a reason?  And they say that that means even the bad things?  And none of us believe that?
Well, I've been thinking...
I have things that have happened in my life...traumatic, and painful things, and some of these things very very few people in my life know about.
And I think...what would I be like if these things hadn't happened to me?
Would I still be like I am today?  Would I still like writing?  Would I still have dizzying logic?  Would I still care so deeply about the hurts of others?  Would I think my younger cousins were annoying, or would I still be as close to them as I am?  Would I have as good a relationship with my mom if these things hadn't happened?  Would I be a Christian?
That last one is scary.  Like just think.  Think about the worst thing that ever happened in your life.  Think about it.  Think about how you were before that thing happened.  Now think about how you are now.  Are you any different?  It's kinda scary to think that if something traumatic and painful hadn't happened I might not be a Christian.
Would I still like the same music I like?  Would I be polite or rude?  Would my relationship with my grandma be less strained?  Would I have my job of mopping?  Would I think that my rude, disrespectful classmates are funny and want to be their friends?
Would I be, or want to be popular?  Would I go crazy with the dating?
Would I get annoyed whenever anyone tries to help me?
Wow...so many different ways I could have changed.
Just one little thing can change your life forever.  Maybe not little persay, but...still.
One event can change your life, and other people's lives forever.
One rude word could be the breaking point to someone committing suicide..And one kind one could be what keeps someone from committing suicide.
A hug can mean a bunch to someone.  And all you thought you were doing was giving them a hug.
Telling someone mean lies about themself can hurt the person so deeply they don't want to even go to school the next day.
Every single thing you do effects others.  So be careful what you do and say.
And also, something my uncle told me: You're never representing yourself.  You're representing your school, your family, if you're a Christian, God, and maybe even sometimes your job.
Well, those are my dizzying thoughts for the night.

Welcome to this World

Welcome to this world.  This world has pain, but also joy, and peace, and fear, there's a touch of evil, followed with a dose of good.  And don't forget, you're going to save the world!
I'm wondering if that's kind of what Jesus went through when he was born.
I also wonder if he knew everything right from birth, since he was still God and all...or if he didn't know anything, because he was also fully human.
Did he know right from wrong from the beginning, or did Mary and Joseph have to teach him?
Was he really born in a stable?  Because if you read the Bible, it never says stable.  It says manger.  And you can have a manger without a stable.  It also never says anything about animals being around.
How many wise men were there?  Three?  Or more?
Did they ride a donkey?  If so, what was the donkey's name?
Did King Herod feed the wise men, or just send them away?
Did the sheep follow the shepherds to see Jesus, or did they stay in the field?  Were any of the shepherds blinded?
How old were the sheperds?
Was Mary my age?  Younger?  Older?
How old was Joseph?
There are so many questions!
Imagine if we had no Jesus for Christmas...
There would be...probably around one question for Christmas.
What's Santa getting me for Christmas?
I'm just so glad that we have Jesus for Christmas.
Hold him close to your heart, and don't let him go.
Not this Christmas, and not any other Christmas to come!

Budump, CHING!

That would be the noise made when you make a joke that's really good.
Who all likes good jokes?  Raise your hand!
Oh wait...I forgot, I can't see your hands through the computer.
Well, I don't really have one right now anyway, so just forget that idea.
Wait!  Correction, I do! Not really a joke, but it is a joke all at once.
When Christians are happy, they celebrate with food, and when they mourn they mourn with food.  Therefore the answer to happiness and sadness is to mourn, and celebrate together with food.
That wasn't really a joke.  It was...just not a joke.  I don't like it much.
Anyway, during my life (well actually just yesterday) I realized something...
When people are teenagers they're really hormonal, right?  Okay, that's kind of basic information about teens, but yatta yatta...and while they're hormonal they have a harder time controlling their emotions, and feelings.  (I've discovered that from books, and my own life.)  When people have yo-yo emotions it's hard for them to find a stable thing.
This is also during the time they are getting ready to go out in the world, and have their own life, with their own convictions, no longer riding on their parents coattails.  They themselves will be asked, "Are you Liberal, or Conservative?"  "Are you a Democrat or a Republican?"  Things like that.
So, they think about their actual opinions, how they truly feel, and all those things.
So, add up emotional yo-yos, thinking about the future, and all the crazy hormones.  And then, add in a little bit of additional stress, school work, and for some trying to get a job.
What do you get?
I'm going to do my own semi algebraic problem.
eyy will stand for emotional yo-yos, tof, for thinking about the future, ch for crazy hormones, as for additional stress, sw, for school work, and ttgj for trying to get a job.
 (eyy+tof+ch+as+sw+ttgj=?)
That is the beginning problem.
So we look at it.  What is each thing caused by?
Well, eyy is caused by the hormones, and possibly some stress, tof is caused by the fact that they're growing up, as I listed before, ch...I'm really not sure what they're caused by.  But now we can eliminate ch, and add it to eyy, so it'd be eyy+ch=chceyy (crazy hormones causing emotional yo-yos.)
IF YOU LIKE MATH, AND DON'T THINK THIS IS GOOD, I WOULD SUGGEST NOT READING THIS WHOLE CRAZY EQUATION.
So now we have one of those subtracted so...
Okay so now on we go.  As is caused by things going on in life, school work is caused by the need for knowledge, and hopefully wisdom, ttgj is caused by the person in question wanting more money.
Now if we have a person who has been exposed to the gospel, and knows the gospel story, and has been saved, this would be the time when Satan comes and tries to get at them.
Now comes the answer to the equation.
chceyy+tof+as+sw+ttgj=hawtol.
Hawtol stands for hardest, and weakest time of life.
So, that would explain why the teen years are the hardest.
Because Satan has been in the messing up lives business from day one, and as learned a thing or two.  He's learned that people doubt more when they're weak, and in a low point of life.
Also, something he's done is worked on corrupting the family, and setting a rebellious pattern for teens to start following, which would mar, sometimes destroy the relationship bonding between child and parents, which would make it harder for the teen to talk to their parent about the stress going on in their life, which would pile on more stress, which would make them turn to their friends, who are at the same point as them.
And, also when that happens it makes it easier to move in on the teen.
If the relationship between child and parent is marred the child wouldn't even talk to their parent about the stress, and doubt that Satan is pressing on them about their faith, and in some cases, would essentially turn from the faith.
But for some people it's the exact opposite.
They get so stressed by it, that they turn to God, and God helps them, and then they grow, and in some cases, God helps them to repair the broken relationship with their parent.
That's what I discovered yesterday.  Although it wasn't so long and drawn out in my mind.
I'm planning on being a psychologist.
Can you tell?
Brother Todd gave me a psychology book to read!
Well, rather I found it, and asked if I could read it.  And he said yes.
I was so happy!
Okay, g'bye.

My Thoughts On...

I have decided to start a new segment on "Katie's Hyper Thoughts."  It's called, "My Thoughts On..."  And then, I will give you my thoughts on a certain topic.  You can choose topics for me to "think" on if you do so desire.
My first topic shouldn't shock too many people, because I am a teenage girl, who has liked more guys than she is old...It's really weird.
LOVE!  So, My Thoughts On...LOVE!  The first My Thoughts On episode...Of sorts.
Okay, so, I like love and all, but I must admit it can be confusing.  I mean, sure, you like the guy, (so maybe it isn't love, but I will include that in the love category) but you don't know how to act or react.
See, I know this one girl (no names mentioned, and if anyone knows who I'm talking about...KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT AND YOUR FINGERS STILL!  Understand?)  She likes this guy, and she thinks that he might like her, and there's this thing coming up, and she could ask him to go with her, but she's too scared that he doesn't really like her.
And then there's where you add the girl who likes the same guy as you do, or at least dislikes you liking him, and the thought of him liking you.
See, this same girl likes to be near the guy she likes, but this other girl actually pushed her away to stand next to him.  I understand how complex that can be.
And then you have the jealous friend factor, where a friend of the opposite sex of the guy you like (so therefore a gal pal) is upset because you like the guy and the guy likes you, and they probably just don't want the guy to get hurt.
Hopefully it's that, and not that they hate your guts.
See, so my first thought on love is that it's confusing.
Actually, forget about all the different scenarios, I'll give you those in a little bit.
Here's what I think about love.  Love can be painful, love can be beautiful, and amazing, love is needed, because a person without love can easily grow cold and mean, in order to love you have to trust the person that you claim to love.  Like the girl I mentioned...She has trust issues, and she's a little scared to trust the guy, even though she likes him.  And no she doesn't like him for his looks, although I myself don't think he's bad looking.
Love shouldn't be based on what they can give you, or how much moolah they have, or their looks.  You ought to base it on their personality, and their relationship with God.
It's not wrong to love someone who obviously has issues, although depending on those issues, you may not want to pursue a relationship with them.  It might not be wise, and they could drag you down the same path that they're on.
There've actually been times when I haven't seen the point in love, at least not for me...But I think I'm making my way back to actually being able to love.  I hope I am.
So, anyway, there are my thoughts on love!
Oh, and my friend (who has requested to be called Emmiline, as she is too nervous about the guy she likes finding my blog of reading this) would like to know if anyone has advice for her.
Okay, the same friend as above actually...She likes this guy, and suspects that he might like her, and she's talked to him a lot, and there's this thing going on.  She kind of wants to ask him to go to it with her, but she's nervous.  Should she wait and see if the guy will ask her, or should she try to be bold and ask him to go with her?
Any advice would be very welcome.  You can comment it, or message it to me on facebook if I've got you added on facebook.
Oh yeah, she's also 14, and isn't sure if she'd be asking him to go as her boyfriend, or just a friend, but more than likely a friend that you like as more than a friend.
I'm a little worried that her and that guy are gonna end up dancing around each other, to try to avoid from getting hurt.
Okay, thank you!

Back From YG!

If you were wondering, YG stands for Youth Group, and I've actually been back for an hour or more.
Well, I had a good time at Youth Group, and got some yummy food.  Little cookie thingies that taste like cake, and zucchini cake :)  I like zucchini cake.  It's yummy.  I like zucchini bread too.
As of right now I'm letting my junk food settle, and watching Andy Grifith.  He died :'(  And my cousin keeps calling him Andy Griffin.  Not that I have anything wrong with griffins but...well, you know.
I keep getting distracted from writing by the movie.  It's on a DVD.
This is the one with Rafe Hollister is singing.
Okay topic change...
Have you ever noticed that when you first meet someone they're different than they are when you get to know them later?
Like the girl who's so shy around people, you get to know her, and realize that she never shuts up!  (this would be me.  I know I know, everyone thinks that she's so talkative, but I got told that I'm quiet!)
And sometimes there's this person you think is really nice, real sweet, and very trustworthy, then you find out that they're really a gossip.
And the person that you're scared of, you find out they're an awesome person, who you could trust with your life if you so did choose.
I've met both sides.  And I'm the first example.
See there was this girl that I was friends with when I was eleven.  I wasn't a very good judge of character, and it turns out that she wasn't a good friend.  I should have realized that when she was telling me mean stuff about a girl I knew since I was two, but I didn't.  Please note, I said knew, not was friends with.  We were friends while I was in daycare, but not really close friends.
Then the other person was a guy who kinda scared me, and I wasn't sure how to react around him, then I got to know him, and realized he was a pretty sweet guy.
I call it the onion theory, and I'm sure that others have come up with it before.
When you first meet someone they only let you see their paper mask, because they don't know you, and don't trust you.  As you get to know them better, and they get to know you, they take off their paper mask, and you see their tough skin, and the more you get to know them, and the more that they get to know you, the more they trust you, and the more layers they take off, until you're down to the soft middle.  Their secrets and feelings exposed to you.
That's my theory.  For some people they trust faster, for others it's a slow, slow process of trusting.
For me, it depends on the person, and the gut instinct I get from them.  For some people I can trust them right away, for others I can't, and it's a slow process before they know my deepest fears, and feelings, and secrets.
Well, I'm not watching Andy Grifith anymore, now I'm watching Jungle Book.  And doing a bit of discussing politics.  Real discussing, not arguing.  Like what my views are.  I guess you'd probably call me conservative.  Except for when it comes to clothes.  I'm really liberal on my views of clothes.  You should have more clothes on your body, so you cover up.  Instead of having less clothes on your body.
I think it'd be awesome if I could talk to animals, and get replies.  Like really speak Cattese, and Doggese, and Horsish.
Oh well, God didn't make us like that.  Actually, he could have, because Eve wasn't surprised about the serpent speaking to her.  Anyway, signing off as I have no more to blog about.

Grrrrrowling!

Okay, no I'm not mad!  I just like going grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, it makes me feel like such a tough girl!  Oh yeah, I'm tough!  Sooo tough!  Haha, don't take me seriously on that, even if I don't cry often, I'm still not totally tough.  It's true.  I'm not tough.  I also rarely cry.  I'm not sure why though.  It's strange.  Guess too much time playing the tough girl.
Alright, so, I found something out.  I get more views if I post my posts on facebook!  It's amazing!  I go from like 0 views to like...14!  One of my blog posts had like forty some!  That would be my interviews one.  These are just individual posts though, not the whole blog.
Now, I have a topic on my mind. (no, it's not procrastinating, though that's on my mind too.)  It's judging.  Everyone seems to know that Bible verse that says, "Judge not lest ye be judged," and the one that says, "To every man who judges, let him be judged likewise."  Now, hardly anyone seems to see the verses that say to judge rightly. (I'll find them for ya later, but they will be found!)  To judge rightly means to judge the persons actions, but not the person.  The Bible does say to judge actions.  In fact Jesus even did that!  He judged the Pharises actions, and called them what they were.  Whitewashed tombs.  (pretty on the outside, yucky on the inside.  Much like that popular girl y'all know who is very pretty, but is mean to everyone not in her cliqe)
So no, don't judge the person, and don't gossip about them.  Don't go to your friend Susie, and tell her all these bad things about a person.
If you see someone doing something that doesn't seem right, talk to them about it.  If they say that you're judging them, and get all up in your kool aid, then that's their problem.
The Bible also says to listen to advice.  If it's bad advice, don't listen to it though.  Advice like, "Oh yeah, you should have a drink of beer, it tastes wonderful, and when you're drunk you are a perfect angel!" < That is bad advice.
Advice like, "You wait for your prince okay?  God will bring him along someday, don't worry!" <That is good advice, and as far as I'm concerned it's very true.
Also, listen to your aunt if she advises you not to kiss on those metal slides at the park that are fun to surf down.  Considering she's done it before and it tasted like a 9 volt battery she probably knows what she's talking about.
Or better yet, wait till Christmas when you make him chase you around trying to get you under the mistletoe.
I've always wanted to get kissed under the mistletoe...and dance in the rain...and eat two pickle splits in a row...okay, snapping out of it now!
Don't be too worried about me, kay?  Kay, good.
Noowwwww, anyway, I was just gonna say that judging a person's action, (realizing, and pointing out that the action was bad, and should not be repeated, or done by anyone else) is different from judging a person. (Looking at a persons actions and saying, "dude, you're so messed up, and everything you do is wrong and bad!  Quit it!" and completely unlovingly saying it.)  Although you should tell the person that what they're doing is wrong.
Now, does everyone want to know a fun craft idea?
Of course you do!
Well, all week at VBS (the one at my church) the older kids (10-12) were working on decorating three ring binders.  They were all the big ones, and the cloth that they all used was denim, (hey for once I spelled it denim first instead of tiepoing it demin!) and they were pretty awesome.
What they did was they cut the cloth (the denim) into one inch (approximately) thick strips, and took craft glue, and glued them horizontally across their binders.  There was one boy who did them vertically, and they all looked pretty awesome.
After they did that they decorated them with pockets, and decals, (well, most of them did, Norma chose to leave hers with only the pocket) and it was all in all a wonderful craft.
I didn't do that craft however.  I was given permission to, but I politely declined, as I thought it would be better if I helped out the crafters with their cutting and stuff.
I did however make one at home!  Today!  So far I have the cloth (not denim) cut out, and glued onto my binder.  No decals yet though.  No pockets or anything.  Would you like to see a picture?
Too bad, I left my camera in the other room, and I'm too lazy to go get it!  Haha, I'm kiddin', I'll get them to you tomorrow.
I was kidding about the no  pictures, but you can't have them right now.  Remind me later ;)
Later than now....Yes I know, I know, it's later, but, I mean later like, much much later!
Thank you....
Okay, now I'm gonna talk about Prince Charming vrs Knight in Shining Armor.  Who would you rather have?
For me I would rather have a Knight in Shinning Armor.  I mean, seriously, think about it, what is the mental image you get when you think Prince Charming.  You got that in your mind?  Okay good, keep it there.  Now think of a Knight in Shinning Armor.  What's that mental image?
When I think of a Prince Charming, I think of a handsome man, who lavishes his princess with whatsoever her heart desires, and can give her anything she wants.  Handsome, winks at her across the room, smiles at her, wraps his arms around her, and gives everyone a big movie grin.  Not really wrong persay, but...well, when I think of a Knight in Shinning Armor, I think of a man who's strong, and brave, and can protect me against practically anything.  A handsome guy, who will give his princess hugs, and make her feel like a treasure.  Maybe he can't give her every single thing that she wants, but when you think about it, you don't even want half the stuff you want!
(for example, if I had a TV, I'd spend all my time watching TV, and none doing stuff like blogging, and talking to people, and reading books, and stuff like that.)
So for me, I'd rather be protected, and feel like a treasure than getting whatever I want, and having a prince with a film star grin.
The next order of "business" otherwise known as my crazy ramblings, is my book!
The Unnamed Legend.  I started it when I was...twelve?  I may have been ten.  I know I was ten when I started writing.  Granted, my work was a bit confusing, and the grammar was atrocious, the spelling made no sense whatsoever, but I still wrote.  I think I was ten or eleven, maybe twelve when I started it, but no older than.
See it started out as being typed up in a whatchamicallit with no spell check, and I started writing it.  Back then it had no name.  It was in fact titled, "Ha Ha Kayden."  Don't ask me why, I really don't know!
It had the worst grammar and spelling in the world I would think.
Thankfully I knew how to use quotation marks, and capitalization, but my spelling was awful!
I had my their, there, and they're's all mixed up!  Not to mention that half the time "their" was spelled, "thier."
Thankfully I've gotten a lot better at spelling.  And grammar.  And all that stuff really.
I think that sometimes I've turned into a Grammar Nazi!
I'm going to set up a blog just for my book, and I'd love for you to go check it out when I get it up!
Anyway, that's all for now!

Hello, my Sunday Afternoon readers!

Hey there people!  Do any of you remember my blog post Interviews?  The one about modesty?  Well, I was on Project Inspired, and there was a thing about Modesty, and what do guys think about it, and how you can help them.
There was a video, with real guys, being asked real questions, and answering them from their hearts.  Here's the link to the post: What Guys Think About Modesty
In the comments there was a link to a Modesty Survey that two brothers conducted.  Here's the link to that: Modesty Survey
Now, last but not least is the link to my interview of various people, about modesty, and clothes, and girls, and things like that: My Interviews
I just thought that you people would be interested in that.
I've got a lot to talk about, but I'm not sure if I should or not.  You see, it's about my opinions, my world views, how I view the Bible, some of my beliefs.  Then again, I think that I ought to, that way everyone knows where I stand.
Jewelry: It depends what kind, how it's worn, and why it's worn.  This is one of those things that I think is, and should be a personal conviction.  My denomination is the Holiness denomination, and they say that jewelry should not be worn.  I'm not allowed (normally) to wear jewelry when I'm up on the platform, so I will honor that, but I will wear jewelry at home, and just about everywhere else.  Yes I will even wear it to church, just not up on the platform.  I've worn a ring, (somewhat of a purity ring, but not really) and now I've got a bracelet that Justice gave me, and I intend to wear that at all times except sleeping, and taking a shower, and times when I am told that I cannot wear it.  I do think that it can be worn as a compliment to your body, that God gave you, but not in a way soley to attract attention.  I also think that if someone close to you gave you a piece of jewelry it is perfectly fine to wear it, to think of them, if they're dead to remember them.  For example, (other than the bracelet from Justice) I used to go to a church in a small town just a 10 minute drive away from my house, and there was this nice old lady, who was blind, and I would just go up to her, and talk to her, and be her friend, things like that, and one day she gave me a necklace with red beads, and a little green Westie on the end of it.  I wore that everywhere, even in the bathtub, until it fell apart.  Then I turned it into a bracelet, which I later lost.  I have no problem with that.
Pants on Girls: Eh, this is a hard topic, even for me.  See, for me it depends on how tight the pants are, and how short/long they are, but sometimes I think that pants are more modest than skirts.  See, with skirts, you can see someone's underwear, but with pants, if they're worn right, and aren't tight you can't, and you can't see the form of the persons legs.  I've also said that if I had to choose between my daughter wearing a miniskirt, or short shorts, I would pick short shorts.  Yes, they are as short, or sometimes a lil shorter than a miniskirt, but, it would be a lot harder to see her underwear.  I like wearing skirts, and I will probably always wear skirts, and dress my daughters in skirts, but, I have no problem with pants, so long as they're modest.  Short shorts on the other hand, aren't acceptable, no matter where you are or what you're doing.  UNLESS they are under your skirt.
Now, here's a wonderful thing for me to tell you!  I'm spending the night at my grandma and grandpa's, and my aunt has decided that I need to go to bed.  At least at home I know ahead of time, like an actual ahead of time when I've got to get the computer off, and go to bed, but my aunt has decided that we're going to bed right after devotions (I do that myself every night, just at my time) and I can't sleep, I know that much, because I'm not even tired.  Joy.  Not to mention that my blog post isn't nearly done, and if I want to try to get to talk to Aunt Maricel I'll have to stay up till..later, and my cousin Andrew and I normally talk later in the day, like late at night, like, we normally both go to bed around midnight together.  Okay, that didn't come out right, but, y'all knew what I meant.
Well, dear people, I'm sorry that I am being forced off of here, earlier than my adult friend, who goes to bed early.  Yes Ronda, if you're reading this, I'm talking about you.
Normally she's at least on to talk to at 10!

Space Quest!

I had an AWESOME VBS today.  Soooo awesome.  And there's just this cutest little girl, and her name is Alexus, (and yes, it is spelled right) I want to kidnap her!  But I won't, because she's awesome, and sweet, and cute, and her parents would miss her.
I feel like so far, I helped more today then I did yesterday.  I guess because I'm starting to come out of my shell.  Yay for coming out of my shell!
Okay, I have like this whole thing going where I say, "Yay for ____" whether I like it or not.
A lot of the time I'm being sarcastic.
Like, "Yay for broken toes!" that would be sarcastic.  Or, "Yay for broken hearts!" or, "Yay for youtube loading slower than a snail!"  Stuff like that, that's what I normally say.  However, it really is "Yay for coming out of my shell!" because I can be sooo shy sometimes.
Yeah, I betcha didn't see that one coming!  No matter how social I am on the internet, or in my blog, I'm really shy.
People are just...frightening I guess.  Especially guys.
See here, I go, and then I get to know people, and either I'm hyper and social and annoying, or I'm shy and quiet, and mysterious (or maybe not mysterious,) until I get to know you.  Then you see the real me, who is more...sometimes hyper, sometimes social, a little more open, scared, and then there's the wounds/scars that very very very very very VERY few people ever see.
Especially not in rl.
Someone asked me why I could be more open to people on the internet that I've never met in real life, and yet have trouble opening up to people I know and love in real life.
I doubt that they read my blog, and since they're gone for a few weeks anyway, I doubt they'll ever see this post, but I'll still post the answer that I came up with.
When you open up to people on the internet that you don't know in real life, and are probably never going to meet in real life, the worst they can do is call you a freak, and never talk to you again.  While it may hurt, it won't hurt as much as it would if you told someone you know in real life, and loved, and trusted, and they said that you were a freak and never talked to you again.
Sometimes I'm scared to risk that.  Especially if I really care about that person, and need them.
And I also have trust issues.
Try getting me to do a trust fall is hard!  Just ask my friend Kayden.  He went through this stage where he would randomly fall, and I would catch him.  He would trust fall.  And it took him forever to get me to trust fall, because I was too scared he wouldn't catch me.
Oooh, if any of you would like an update on my bunny, (Serenity Jael (My last name) ) here it is!
She's getting sooo big, and she's sooo cute!  We went to Orchlands and bought her a big bunny cage/house, that's much better than the cat carrier she used to be in.
It came with a wooden hidey hole, a litter pan (which she uses as a bed) a food dish, and a little treat.  She's the sweetest, cutest, most adorable bunny in the world, and she deserves the best.
Well, I'm off to watch a movie, then probably mow, (ugh)
sooo see y'all later!

Grrrrrrrawwwwwgh

If you're wondering about that title, as I'm sure you are, that's because it's thundering here, and that's the sound that thunder makes.
It's also raining, and I DO love the rain.
Today (well rather yesterday, as today is already tomorrow, which is Monday,) Pastor Chad preached about two things in one sermon.  Being sanctified, and being a witness.  He did both of these at the same time.  Preached about them I mean.  And did them too, I'm sure.
If you need a definition of "sanctification" like I did, I'll give you the one that my pastor's wife gave to me: "Sanctification is when you take a plain white unwritten on piece of paper, and you sign you name at the bottom before anything is written on it, and then after you sign it, God will write down bit by bit what he wants you to do.  And you, as a sanctified Christian will do what God asked of you."
Which, it now makes more sense when people are saying that you need to be sanctified holy, and set apart.  It means that you make an agreement to do what God asks, before he asks it, because you know he won't give you more than you can bear.
Pastor Chad said that we're a walking sermon, or something to that affect, which the way I understood it means that people are watching us.  Watching our every move.
People who haven't stepped inside a church in ten years know the Bible, and they know when we're being hypocrites, and they know when we're saying one thing, and living another.
We need to practice what we preach.  And we need to be examples.  I believe that that's how he said it.
And another sermon that I heard a little less than a year ago was about light.  We're the light of where ever we are.
If we're at the mall, we're the light, we should shine for Jesus.  If we're at church we should shine for Jesus.  If we're buying groceries we should be the light.
DON'T HIDE YOUR LIGHT!
God lit your candle for a reason, he has someone he wants you to touch with your light!
He also brought up a man who I don't remember, he knew he was someday going to have to go through the fire, literally, he was burned at the stake for either being a Christian or preaching, I don't remember which, but he was sitting in front of a candle, holding his hand over it, and his friends saw him through the window, and said, "What in the world are you doing?!" (paraphrasing just so you know) and he said, "I'm going to have to go through the fire, and I don't want to disappoint my God."
He was strengthening himself, by God's help, so he wouldn't back down when he was called before the people and burned.
Pastor Chad also brought up Stephen (no not my Uncle Stephen, as awesome as he is, he's not as awesome as the Stephen in the Bible, whom I think he was named after.)
Stephen was preaching, and after he was done, he was stoned for preaching.  And when he died, well, I just can't paraphrase this, it wouldn't work, this is what Acts 6:15 KJV (King James Version) says: "And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel."
Who knows how many people were saved because Stephen wasn't ashamed, because he was willing to die for what he believed in.
They're watching us, and they want to see if it really works.  They want to see if we're really happy, they want to see if we're really content, really at peace.
We're witnesses of everything we stand for, just by the way we act.
There's this poem, and I'll post that, then get out of your hair.
You Tell On Yourself
Author Unknown
You tell on yourself
By the friends you seek,
By the manner in which you speak;
By the way you employ your leisure time,
By the use you make of every dollar or dime.

You tell what you are
By the things you wear,
By the spirit by which your burdens you bear;
By the kind of things at which you laugh,
By the records you play on your phonograph.

You can tell what you are
By the way you talk,
By the manner in which you bear defeat;
By so simple a thing as what you eat,

By the books you choose from a well-defined shelf.
In these ways and more, you tell on yourself.
So there is really not a particle of sense
In your efforts to keep up your false pretense

In short, I liked Pastor Chad's sermon, and realize that I'm not always practicing what I preach no matter how much I try.
Anyway, I'll be back later.  Maybe even later tonight (this morning, as it's 1:03, and it's still thundering, so I can't go to sleep.)
Katie :)
